Module 2, Lesson 1:
AI-Powered Creation
GAMMA 1O1

Okay, so we've got our Canopy pitch deck from Generate mode. It's a solid start, but it needs some polish. This is where the real work happens, and honestly, where Gamma really shines.
This may seem obvious, but you can edit the text of your gamma the same way you would edit any text document.
Now, I want to show you a few ways to level this up using AI, starting with some of the options you have during generation, and then we'll get into refining what we've already created.
Generate Mode — Going Deeper
When you're generating from scratch, you've got a few choices that really matter. We touched on this earlier, but let me show you what I mean.
Advanced mode is where you can get specific. Instead of just giving Gamma a topic and letting it run wild, you can tell it exactly how many cards you want, what sections to include, even the tone you're going for.
Let me try this real quick. I'll generate a quick internal team update—something totally different from our pitch deck.
See how this opens up? Now I can say "Keep it to 5 cards" or "Include a section on key metrics and next steps." The more specific you are, the more tailored your result will be.
Look at that—exactly what I asked for. Five cards, clean structure, ready to go.
Image Options Matter
And here's something people overlook—image options.
No Images
  • Perfect if you're focused on content first and want to add visuals later
Image Placeholders
  • Great if you know you'll be adding your own photos or graphics
AI-Generated Images
  • What we did for BrewBox—lets Gamma create visuals based on your content. You have a bunch of different options here, but Gamma will default to selecting the best one for your use case.
I usually start with AI-generated just to see what it comes up with. If I don't like them, I can always swap them out. But it gives me a visual starting point, which helps me see the full picture faster.
Paste Mode — Making Rough Draft Shine
Paste mode is honestly one of my favorite features. Let's say I have this rough outline I wrote up for a new feature launch.

It's just bullets. No formatting, no structure. Watch what happens when I paste this into Gamma.
Okay, look at this. Gamma took my rough bullets and turned them into actual slides with headers, layouts, hierarchy—it looks designed. And I didn't touch a single formatting option.
This is huge if you're the kind of person who likes to brain-dump first and format later. Just get your ideas down, paste them in, and let Gamma do the rest.
Import Mode — Bringing in Existing Work
Import is your friend when you're migrating from another tool or repurposing existing content. PowerPoint, Google Slides, Word docs, PDFs—Gamma can handle it.
I'll upload it here, pick a theme—because remember, Import brings in the content, not the original styling—and let Gamma restructure it.
Same content, completely new life. And Gamma doesn't just copy-paste your slides. It actually restructures them to work as cards, which means they're way more flexible and easier to edit.

Quick tip 💡
If you're importing and it's not working perfectly—maybe it's a PDF or the formatting is weird—try exporting your original file as a .pptx or .docx first. That tends to work better with Gamma's import function.
📌 Your Turn:

Alright, try one of these:
  • Generate a gamma using Advanced mode with specific instructions
  • Paste in a rough outline or some notes and see how Gamma formats it
  • Import a PowerPoint or Word doc you already have
Experiment for a few minutes. See what works for your workflow.
Share your ideas faster and more beautifully with AI.
